I have completed an update of Puccini’s La bohème on LibrettoArchive and in the Italian–English paperback.
Unlike some of the libretti I have worked on recently, La bohème was already in very good condition. A careful comparison of the Italian and English texts revealed only a handful of small typographical and OCR errors, rather than significant problems with the text or translation.
Most of the work therefore concerned presentation and consistency. Character names have been reformatted according to the new LibrettoArchive design, making changes such as MIMI to Mimì. I also standardized Benoît throughout the libretto; previously the correct French spelling appeared in the character list, while Benoit was used in the dialogue.
The Italian–English side-by-side paperback has been updated as well, and the new version is now available. PDF preview is also available.
If you purchased an earlier version of my La bohème paperback and would like the newly updated copy, please contact me. I will be happy to send you a replacement free of charge.
The complete libretto can also be read on LibrettoArchive, where the Italian and English texts may be viewed separately or side by side: https://www.librettoarchive.com/La_bohème_libretto_Italian_English
