Aida: Italian–English Side-by-Side Libretto With Translation

I’ve completed a major revision of the English translation of Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida, now available on LibrettoArchive.

The complete Italian libretto by Antonio Ghislanzoni has been reviewed side by side with the English text. This was much more than a proofreading pass: about 20% of the English translation was retranslated, while many other passages were revised for accuracy, clarity, and consistency with the original Italian.

The goal was to keep the English natural and readable while staying as close as possible to the meaning, emotion, and dramatic character of Ghislanzoni’s text.

The revised translation is also available in a new second edition of the paperback at Amazon.com, with the complete Italian and English texts presented side by side.
