Therefore let us sing forever of him, honoured greatly by love!” Richard Wagner Die Feen was Wagner's first completed opera, composed in 1833, when he was 20 years old and working as a part-time chorus master in Würzburg. Die Feen was premiered in Munich on 29 June 1888 with a cast including several singers who had created roles in Wagner's later operas.
Richard Wagner completed the full score of Die Feen on January 8, 1834. He had finished writing the libretto (the text) and the initial musical composition by the end of 1833, but wrapped up the entire official score on this exact date just before returning to Leipzig.
